Tourist Central: Dole Plantation
Some of you may know the infamous Dole Whip from Disneyland or Walt Disney World. But did you know that it all started in Hawaii?
You can get this delicious soft serve on the beautiful island of O'ahu as you make your way to the North Shore. Right off of Kamehameha Highway, you'll see the Dole Plantation.
But Dole does not just offer a great treat for a hot day. They have also got a few attractions such as a train ride on the Pineapple Express through their pineapple fields, a garden tour, and the 2008's largest maze.
If hanging out in the sun is not for you, they have also got some great stuff in the shop.
At the top of every hour they have a pineapple demonstration where they show you how to cut and grow your own pineapples. At the bottom of the hour they have a chocolate demonstration where they show you how they harvest chocolate from the start! So go and check out the demonstrations because they come with free samples of pineapple and chocolate! Question of the day! Have you tried li-hing powder on your pineapple?
With lots of Hawaii souvenirs, and contracted vendors there is ton to shop! They have got chocolate covered macadamia nuts, dried fruit, cookies, T-shirts, magnets, and pretty much anything else you could imagine at a tourist stop.
Going back to potentially the reason you clicked on this post: DOLE WHIP!
Dole Whip is a pineapple flavored soft serve and can be made in a number of ways. You can get it in a cup, cone, float, with toppings, or even as a swirl with vanilla ice cream! This is one of my favorite snacks to pick up on the way home from the beach, or a sugar pick me up while I'm at the Disney Parks.
Dole Plantation is definitely not a whole day adventure.
You could easily do everything in a matter of a couple of hours.
So take a pit stop before you head out to the beach and enjoy the taste of our sunshine fed pineapples!
