My Fall 2017 DCP Application Process

With the Disney College Program-Spring 2018 applications dropping

just yesterday, I thought it might be helpful to share the

timeline of my application process last spring!

Submitted Application on January 23rd:

Going into the application I was super excited to get started and hopefully get accepted for a second program! So the day the applications dropped was the day that I went to submit mine.

Thank you for Applying Email: January 23 11:58AM

That very same day I got this email saying that they received my application, but have not yet reviewed it. At this point in the process you should get yourself acquainted with The Dashboard. This page will let you know the status of your application, whether it is In-Progress, Action Required, or In Submission.

Web-Based Interview Email: January 23 1:20PM

Finally the WBI email came and it was such a relief! Taking the WBI while I have a clear mind is what I find helps me to be the most successful. My advice is to be honest and be true to yourself. They do have repeats of questions to make sure you are being consistent to watch out for those!

Phone Interview Email: January 23 1:53PM

You will know pretty quickly if you pass the WBI because you will receive the invitation to schedule a phone interview, or you will be put in Submission. Once I pass this step, I feel like I can breathe a little. I got all the logistics out of the way, now all I have to do is sell yourself! Question of the day! How do you prepare for an interview?

Phone Interview Confirmation Email:

January 23 1:57PM

I scheduled my phone interview to be two days after I completed my WBI. In those two days I prepared as much as I could with looking up questions, writing out my answers, and making my roommates practice with me. I feel like I almost too prepared for the interview.

Thank you for Interviewing Email:

In this email they said that all the final hiring decisions would be made by April 14th. I was not excited for the waiting game what so ever, but that was all that was left to do.

Waiting Game

The first couple of weeks I checked my dashboard religiously and whenever I had a spare moment. I had heard stories of people not getting the acceptance email but it being on their dashboard and in their communications box. So I didn't want to miss mine, but there never was an update.

Thank you for your Interest Email: April 11 5:57AM

Then came the dreaded NLIC email... I was 100% disappointed and shocked. I had gotten in before so I did not see a reason why I would not get in a second time. Though what really surprised me was that I did not cry. I thought that this was it, it was my plan for after graduation so what happens now?

Looking back on my application process I did all that I could do. I did my very best during the phone interview and I may have overshared, or I may have not been chosen in the lottery, we may never know. But what I do know is that it wasn't meant to be. My career with Disney will happen in one way or another, but it wasn't meant to start with the DCP.
